I have just used the instructions on this forum to first root my phone, and then install New 2.2 on to my desire. What a improvement in performance and Shockwave flash works.....

But I can't install on to my SD Card at all. If I download a app from the market (or my pc) which is set to install on extrenal storage (SD Card), it downloads and the installation fails. I also can't use APP 2 SD as when I try and copy to memory it fails.

So if I then unmount my SD Card, and install the same app, it installs and works fine. So do I need to do something to my SD Card?

Just tried doing that, by using the power key and down and going to recovery and then partition, but still its not working ;-(

Go to settings/apps/manage apps & select an app that you have installed see if the option is there to move to sd card

yeah, and the option there is available on some apps, but when i select it, after about a second it says "Move failed". I have tried it with a diffrent SD Card in, and it makes no diffrence.

Back up your sd card to the pc & install rom manager, format your card & then partition using the option in rom manager.
you need the partition 512mb ext & 0mb swap.
Copy your items back to sd card & then try.

Just tried that, and then same problem once the phone rebooted. Could the version of 2.2 I have put on be faulty?
My 8gig Card, when i plug in to a computer shows 7.11Gb free of 7.11gb, if that helps ;-)

Ok, same problem as mine but strangely i could still use the "move to the sd card" option after apps installed in phone memory. but just can't install any of them to the sd card initially with pc or cell and that's weird. i went through some other threads talking about this same issue in which people suggest that there's problem with sd card and a partition needed, not really interested in that when i think of those files and folders i deleted by mistake in my sd card yesterday.

and now i'm thinking of backing all up and re-installing froyo as a simple solution.
