how can I read an SD card on my tablet without loading it to a micro card via my laptop if on the move with an SLR camera and want to view my picture on the tablet - is there an adapter?
It depends on what size the card in the camera is, what size card your tablet accepts and the camera. If the camera has a readable USB port, you might be able to connect it to the tablet that way. (It'll show up as a drive. Look for the DCIM folder.)
If the phone card is larger than what the tablet accepts, I don't think there are SD card-to-micro SD card adapters. If your tablet can use an OTG cable (that depends on how old it is), you could get a micro SD card USB adapter and read it that way. Or put it into the full-size SD card adapter, put that into an SD card to USB adapter and read it. (I do that one all the time with both full size cards and micro cards in the adapter "card".)
