Awoke this morning and checked my Motion for new messages. There was a symbol at the top left corner of the phone. Pulled down the menu and saw a message which said "SD Card Blank or has unsupported file system."

I have rebooted the phone twice and am still getting this message. Checked to see if my photos were there, and they were, so I do not understand why I am getting this message. If I allow the phone to reformat the SD card, it will erase what is on the card.

What is wrong and how do I fix it? Never saw this message before and have done nothing out of the ordinary/usual with my phone.

    Thanks!

try transferring the content of the sd card to a computer and then allow the phone to format the sd card - that should fix the problem and you won't lose any pictures or anything like that you had on there.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I cannot do that. I have a Mac, and for some reason, this phone will not transfer the snaps to my computer. Never have been able to figure out that one either.

Unless you set the Motion's camera app to save to the SD, it's been saving your pics to the internal storage instead which is the default. On the phone, internal storage may show as an "SDCARD" directory whether a card is present or not.

Chances are that the memory card went corrupt; seemingly common when using non-SanDisk branded SD cards. Happens to me with a PNY-branded card all the time.

Dave has it right, the default setting is for pics to go to the internal storage so unless you've changed it that's where they are.
Your SD card has taken a dump which is not that unusual. If you can get access to a PC you can try to see if the card can be read but chances are it's toast. Even if it does take a reformat, you're taking a chance trying to continue using it and the best option is to toss it and get a new one.
You can confirm 100% that your pics are stored on the internal phone memory by shutting the phone off, removing the SD card and rebooting. You should still see the pics with the card removed.

My pictures are in Gallery (has a daisy icon). There is also an icon shaped like fan with red, yellow, blue, and green sails, but nothing is in there. I have three "albums" in the Gallery. (Would like to delete some of the individual photos, actually, but I cannot figure out how to do that.) Does this tell you anything more about what is happening with the SD card?

The Gallery can be either internal or external storage depending on what you have selected. Open the camera, go to settings and select storage, see if it is set to internal or SD card. And I'll repeat my earlier suggestion- pull the SD card, if the pics are still there you know for sure they are in internal storage.
