Buying SDHC cards seems to be a crap shoot. I am experiencing problems that I have not found on many of the common Android Forums. I am using a 32gb Kingston SDHC which has been formatted on my zcomputer using FAT32. I then filled it with 15gb of music files.

When I initially insert it into my HTC Incredible, it accepts the card. The 'SD & phone storage' settings read that the SD card has 29.09GB total space and 13.37GB available space. I looked at the directory in Astro FileManager and it appears as though about 1/8 of the music files are there, but the rest of the music albums are just folders with no .mp3 files. When I open my music player, only those same first 1/8 of the music files are shown. I have an application that I used on my old SDHC card called SDrescan which is supposed to reread the data and update the phone. With the new card this app hangs and the phone freezes. If I do not run the app, the phone freezes up as soon as it goes idle (Black screen, Home/Menu/Back/Search keys still light up, cannot restart with top button, only option is to remove battery).

I am starting to think i bought a duped SD card. When I get to a windows computer, I will run h2testw. Are there any such options for a mac computer to test if a micro SD is legitimate?

Somebody returned my lost phone, but took the SD card with them. I was happy enough to have the phone returned to me so I moved on to buy a new SDHC Card. I used eBay because it had given me success before, but something seems sketchy.

It looks like you took all the correct steps so it might just be a defective card. I use a 32GB sandisk (class 2) without problems. Purchased through Amazon and transfer speeds are on par with most class 4 micro SD cards.

I've heard that the new SDHC cards are either hit or miss as far as device compatibility issues are concerned. I would try an erase & format through your phone first. Menu > Settings > SD phone & storage > unmount SD card > erase SD card. See if that works before you decide to return it.

Right-o I will give that another shot too. I had actually read (I think on this forum) that the HTC Incredible, and some other phones, can not correctly format the 32gb SDHC cards directly on the phone - and thus why I did it on my computer.

Once I do the reformat the card, do you know any freewares that are similar to h2testw, but for the mac, that can test if the SD card is fraudulent/legitimate?
