When I'm looking at a web page or app the search key will from time to time light up, give haptic feedback and initiate the the search function on its own. Anyone else have this issue?

It's happened to me, but I was able to identify that one of my fingers pressed the key while I was handling the phone.

You're holding it wrong. :)

I wish it was me hitting the search key by accident, but it has happened when the phone is just sitting on the table while I read the news or whatever. Its weird!

Thanks for the link! I really don't have many problems with my phone, so I'm reluctant to exchange it! But I don't want to be stuck with it if it gets worse.

Good thinking. Try the old battery pull solution and let us know if it (or anything else you attempt) has any success.

I took my Captivate apart & found out it was a cable that just needs to be press down. "small micro ide cable" im not having the problem anymore. To me it seems like it happens when you put the phone down kinda hard or drop it. this cable can come loose at times.

Whoa.....My phone is doing the same thing. Please tell us where this small ide cable is located inside our phones. I will try securing it if thats all the problem is. Thanks.

Yeah my first captivate did that, the search pops up when I put it down sometimes. This 3rd one is ok;)

When you say you took it apart, you opened the back and.....what? Removed all the tiny silver screws and popped out everything? Was this cable labeled?

thx

Yup, I have the same problem. It can just be sitting on my nightstand and the search function activates on its own. I may go a few days without this happening and other times it happens numerous times a day.

I had this problem with the Home (and sometimes Back) buttons. It was very frequent, and often after unlocking the phone.

Exchange phone for that and some other issues... haven't had it on the new one yet, but also haven't put a new screen protector on (I ran out so had to buy some more). So it'll be interesting if that's a factor. Do you use a screen protector?

I never took my phone apart.
