I currently have my Evo 4G naked and use a clip on leather holster but when I move to the LTEvo in the next 1-6 months I want to have a little more protection ie a case with holster. Have any of you tried/seen both the Seidio & Otterbox case & holsters and, if so, can you share your opinions with me?

After looking at both companies web sites it looks like the Otterbox Defender series and Seidio Surface series would be the ones to go with as both cases have corresponding holsters. The Seidio Active case has a holster too but it has it's own kickstand and does not allow the LTEvo kickstand to be used while in the case so I would not be interested in that option.

    Any info will be appreciated.

p.s. I'm also interested in knowing how secure the holster is when on a belt. The leather one I use now just has a metal clip that comes off my belt often when taking my phone out. I have to bend the clip back against the holster every so often to keep it gripping my belt. I've looked for holsters with closed loops so it can't detach from the belt but haven't found any decent ones.

I have tried both on my evo 4g. I tried the otterbox, got it from a local radioshack store. I got it cause my buddy had one on his blackberry and it was great. I returned it the next day. It was nothing like the quality that his case was for the blackberry. I then ordered the seidio ext case with the holster from amazon. It was $38 shipped, seidio wanted $69.99 for it. I've had my evo almost 2 years and the phone looks like its new still. The holster is nice too. I did dremel the spring loaded latch that holds the phone in just a little bit. Many reviews said it was pressing the power button keeping the screen on. I noticed that on mine as well. Just a few light touches with a barrel on the underside and no more screen staying on. The holster has a little lock switch on the spring loaded release. You must lock the switch when you put the phone in it. The only time I have the phone fall out is when I forget to lock it. But I still have to hit the phone on something, it doesn't just drop. Even when you move.

I also highly recommend the invisishield screen protector. Paid $15 at radioshack and it was worth every penny. I had a bunch of marks on it after it was on over a year, cost me $3 for shipping and invisishield replaced it under warranty. They were very easy to deal with. I took my old shield off and the case. I had expected to have some screen damage due to how bad the screen protector was. I was shocked to see how good of a condition the phone was. The screen still looked like it was brand new.

My phone has been through hell and my seidio case has protected my phone better than I would have ever imagined. You won't be able to use the kickstand with the case on though. While it would be nice it's not a big deal to me.

I had the otterbox defender and it's solid. Had no problems with extended battery pack too. However, my phone is bare now because the case was a tank!

Ditto for me. Had no worries about it breaking if it got dropped but the case is so big it made carrying in my pocket an issue so I ended up taking it out of the case and keeping it naked so I could us a holster.
