I was recently in my local Verizon center and saw an advertisement on the counter proclaiming VZ would buy back used phones. Has anyone attempted this recycle method of clearing the closet of your past phones? I asked the clerk what they were offering for the old phones and his response was.. depends of the model and condition. I have seven or eight dust collectors here that sure could use a new home if it's worth the return trip to VZ.

You can get the value here: Verizon Trade In

They are probably not worth a lot.

I hadn't counted on there being much to gain. I don't know why I still have all of them to be honest. I have an original BB Storm and the rest are razors or similar flip phones. Thanks for the link.

Follow Up: The Storm has a value of $8.00 and the Razors are ZERO lol. The rest of my dust collectors are even lesser devices so I didn't even bother to search them out. Thanks for the link. I would have recouped less than the gas expense for the trip to VZ.

This is just like the Best Buy technology buyback program and the Newegg one too, you can always get more just putting your technology on ebay or craigslist. With smartphones especially it is best to sell them the instant you stop using one, wipe it and sell it, it likely is still worth $80-200 depending on the phone. This way you can put that money aside for a backup phone if you ever do damage or destroy your current phone. At the very least you get enough money to buy back the same old smartphone you had, and if you break your new phone a year down the line, that $100 can likely buy a better phone than the one you used to have, so really just sell your smartphones on ebay when you replace them, it's the best policy.

I've got decent values on a couple of my things through tradeups. For the stuff that I think they'll give me too little on I tend to ebay it.

If it were me, sell the smart phones, and donate the other ones. cell phones for soldiers is one way to go. They actually recycle the phones for materials, they don't send the phones to the soldiers, they send phone cards.

Good thing to do for them, as well as the environment, and since they are worth $0, why not. (I am not affiliated with this organization in anyway, I just researched the best way to get rid of my piles of dust collectors).

I recently got over $100 for my rooted eris, people still buy used smart phones, and in order to save an upgrade (for my T-Bolt), I bought a Dinc used - trust me I came out ahead doing it this way.
