My triumph is running tickerguy's cm7 beta 8 FINAL. On the stock 2.2 rom, I used to be able to to sent SMS to an email address from the messaging app. On cm7, it only lets me send mms to an email, even if its just text and less than 160 characters. Is there anyway to bring back this functionality? I don't want to have to go back to froyo just because of this issue...

I wondered about this as well when I first started using cm7 but totally forgot about it after a while. To send an SMS to email is better than the MMS way

This is a real problem for me because I only connect to data when I need it, but mms requires the data connection to send. A fix would be greatly appreciated :)

Any idea if this might be fixed on future roms?

I love the look and feel of CM7, but I need Froyo back for this and other reasons. Does anyone know if this is possible? Did CyanogenMod ever use Froyo?

What do you mean did they ever use froyo? They have cm6 which is froyo if that's what you mean.

It is indeed! Thank you very much! Apologize for asking a simplistic question.

No worries. But we don't have a cm6 rom for our phone and truthfully I don't know how much better it would than the stock rom anyways.

This post is an attempt to show my ignorance, let me know how I do.

The messaging app in CM7, was it ported along with Gingerbread? Might it be possible to use the old messenger from Froyo on CM7 modded phones running Gingerbread?

^ I suspect what I am going to try and do is just root the stock rom and mod it to look more like CM7 using the various mods in the marketplace (toggle controls in the notification menu, dark theme, etc).
