I have uploaded several videos I took on my HTC Desire X to my laptop and they won't play on VLC. It seems to be playing but the screen stays black and there is no audio. Would be so grateful for any help in rectifying this as very frustrating.

How did you transfer the files? (USB cable, email, something else?) What file formats? (VLC plays almost every format there is, but almost and all aren't the same.)

Hi, I used my USB cable from phone to laptop and transferred them all into my pics folder. I right clicked on one of the videos and it says it is an MP4. Thanks :)

Still no luck. I haven't been able to get them going at all. I am now wondering if it has something to do with the phone being able to to take photos while we are in the middle of recording a video? Maybe VLC doesn't like that? The videos I took without taking photos during did actually play. Maybe we could investigate this angle? :)

I read your post mrspunkas, which converter or media player are you using. I can't view any of the videos I took with my htc one on my puter. Reading your post it sounds like some of your videos are able to be played on your pc. Please let me know which media player or converter you used. Thanks

Hi, I used VLC for the ones which would work. Still looking into the possibility of the ones which have been interrupted by photos mid way. :)
