Every time I try to send a picture in a text message, it tries to convert it to a slideshow. Is there any way to turn this off? Whenever I try sending one picture as a slideshow, the recipient (even if they have a similar Verizon phone, like the Droid) can't see it. It never used to do that, but I don't see a setting that will allow me to just send the picture without making it a slideshow.

Short story: HTC broke it with their MR4 update, and HTC refuses to fix it. 3 support tickets, 2 support rep responses to unsatisfied support surveys, and 1 BBB complaint later...and they still refused to fix it for me and said they have absolutely no intention of releasing any further maintenance updates to fix the problem they caused. (FCC complaint pending.)

They suggest using a 3rd party app like Handcent to get around their laziness.

I've been trying to get help since July 23rd. Though I HATE HTC for the experience, I LOVE Verizon: they fixed my Eris problem: they swapped it for a Droid 2, straight-up exchange.

I've vowed never to buy another HTC product for the lies, ignorance, and stonewalling they put me through in the above process.

wait a second, you got a new phone for the slideshow problem alone?! that's always bugged me but I didn't think complaining would help at all. Maybe it's because your phone was so new but still, I wanna try.

Yup, lotta people complained about this earlier... it sucks, and I hate it... it needs to be an option that can be disabled... actually it needs to be an option that a user has to enable first...

No, not just the slideshow problem. I've actually had multiple complaints about the phone on file, one of which required getting a refurb a few months ago (vibrate died). I went from having a grand total of 2 phone problems in the time I've been with Verizon (2000 or 2001), to reporting problems every couple months with the Eris--the rep who made the exchange stated that he was looking at my history.

In this case, they probably also factored in how long I've been trying to get support, and how useless HTC was being. I made a good-faith effort to get it fixed through the manufacturer before contacting Verizon, and I was polite when I did.

I'd try bitching at HTC first, regardless. Maybe eventually they'll get a clue and do something about it. Usually hordes of angry customers have that effect. Complaining on boards and not showing the manufacturer you're serious is an easy way to be ignored.
