hi all I received my samsung galaxy s2 today and I'm just getting used to it.
I saw in a video before buying (can't remember where i saw it now!) that it was possible to connect your phone to your pc with USB cable and access the SMS via the phone to type replies on your pc keyboard.

I found out about EasySMS when researching this and after reading the instructions here, its all but easy for me...

Is there any other way you can recommend to do this?

However kies is a little bit on the crap side because if you are a chatter box like me, it will not let you write a message more than 3 texts long.

I just rooted my phone and installed vnc server instead ;-)

thanks guys, only just discovered keys air which is perfect for me, however how can i connect to it via usb cable instead of via wifi?

Also to save starting another thread for a simple thing, if I want to add contact photos is it best to add them via kies air also? Will these be saved to gmail or can I do it directly through there?

I'm basically after setting up all of my contacts the way I like them and then having somewhere to save them in case of a phone format

I was using Myphoneexplorer with my SE phone, and now the app has come to android. You need to install both MPE on phone and PC.

Hi, you can try to use smslemon.com. This is android application to manage SMS through the website. You must have only internet connection in your phone, because smslemon synchronized with your phone while using.

Hi, do you mean you have your phone connected to your PC via USB and you're asnwering your texts using your PC and not your phone? I've been trying to do this and even ended up ringing Samsung, who told me Kies wouldn't do it! This is driving me mad! I'm on the verge of flogging my Galaxy Note!

I recommend, as per post #5, MyPhoneExplorer for PC and phone app.

Can just connect phone via Wi-Fi to PC and send/receive texts on the PC as well as sync'ing with Contacts, Calendar, photo's, etc; and making and receiving calls.

"Connect your phone via cable, bluetooth or infrared and you'll be surprised how easy and efficient you can manage your phone with this compact software. Since it's first appearance MyPhoneExplorer evolved into the most popular freeware tool for SE-phones and is constantly extended by new features. Since version 1.8 MyPhoneExplorer supports Android-based phones that is (connected via WiFi, USB cable or Bluetooth) features:

Address Book - with direct sync to Outlook, GMail, Windows contacts, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Lotus Notes and Tobit David
Organizer with calendar view and direct sync to Outlook, Google, Sunbird, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Windows calendar (Vista), Rainlendar, Lotus Notes, Tobit David and net shared calendars (WebDAV, FTP, local)
SMS - archive, export, import, excessive messages, ...
File browser with cache system to minimize data transfer, automatic PhotoSync ...
Set phone clock based on atomic time
and much more. fe: call lists, edit profiles, control phone, memory status, phone, monitor, ...

Mighty Text is also worth a look and there is no need for you phone to be connected to your PC via a cable...
