I believe the sense UI is something from HTC so it is not available for other android phones.

Sense UI is amazing u can find it on the hero and on the droid eris. What HTC's Sense UI does is give u 7 home screens compared to only 3 available with regular vanilla android it also gives u facebook widgets twitter widgets HTC weather widgets and other HTC widgets. It integrates all social networking sites right out of the box without having to download a application for it IMO i would never buy a vanilla android phone cause sense is soo much better

The Sense UI provides a smoother interface to the stock Android interface, pretty much what you get is UI Enchancements, Widgets, Core Extensions, and Extra Applications.

Vanilla Android has five homescreens, actually.

Sense UI is more or less a home replacement with its own set of widgets tied to its framework (i.e. widgets that won't work on vanilla Android). It's meant to give Android a more polished look, though it comes with a rather unfortunate bottom tab/launcher.

Sense is HTC's User Interface for their Android phones.

Thanks for the responses. Was thinking of updating the rom to a generic ROM but I think I'll wait for 2.xx

Actually vanilla has 3 home screens on 1.5 1.6 2.0 and 2.0.1 and only has 5 on 2.1 so your wrong its only 5 on 2.1

I want to force the Sense widgets to work on the 2.1 Vanilla launcher (Eris 2.1 leak 1) any way to do that?

Nope. HTC widgets need Sense to work.
