Is there a way to get the stock phone app screen to show the dash separators in phone numbers? I do not like appearance of a string of 10 digits with no separators. Thanks.

P.S. Looking for a solution that does not require root.

I don't have a Tbolt or the new Sense on my Evo so I'm not sure if there is a setting, but, you could use a alternative dialer like Dialer One (or something) from the market.

Wow I can't believe that Android does not support a preference like this. Most countries have their own formats with special dummy characters such as "(". ")" and "-". This should be something under settings for sure.

The Thunderbolt can't even dial numbers when they have the country code +1 in front of the number
