Looks like I was beaten to the punch. But yeah, that first case was for the first Bionic.

Hope it works out for ya!

A little off topic (or maybe not :D), but just thought you guys would like to know that the Bionic is already rooted. It uses the same method as the D3 ;)

I can only compare the DX to the D3, which is what I had to upgrade to when my wife broke her phone (I gave her my DX and used her upgrade to get the D3). Straight out of the box, the D3 didn't seem that much faster than my DX. However, the DX wasn't all that impressive either right out of the box with the crappy blur it came with. Once I tweaked the D3, rooted it, and removed bloat, it became a much faster phone. You notice it everywhere, installing apps, opening apps, multitasking, even the browser pages load faster. I know, because I actually did head-to-head tests. And I can finally watch 720p videos using software decoding--something I could never do with the DX. Besides the extra ram, LTE and larger screen, the specs are basically the same for the D3 and the Bionic. The extra ram should make a difference as I did get some redraws when using the stock launcher (but no redraws with go launcher, which is my primary launcher). So If I think the D3 is a significant upgrade, the Bionic has got to be an even bigger one. Just my 2 cents.

The Bionic is going to be a good upgrade I think. It's upgraded internals over the X and has 4g. It's the best Moto phone until the Droid HD and who knows when/how much impact that will actually have after the rumored Nexus Prime is released. The only negative mark I give it is it's use of Motoblur which has proven to be a downside even with the so called refinements.

I have a moto xoom, I have gotten so used to the speeds of the xoom that I can hardly stand using my X anymore. It seems soooooo slow to me now. I will definitely be picking up a bionic tomorrow when it launches. Dual core and 4G! Next, I'll wait for the quad core with 4.5G they just tested out. Looks like that should double the speeds and shouldn't take too long to finish. Hopefully will be up and running by the time my contract ends with the bionic.

I'll be skipping the Bionic. My ROM'd DX is plenty fast, short of LTE I don't see or feel the need to upgrade. I'm waiting for ICS and hopefully the Prime.

Well by the time I'm due for an upgrade, which is in March of next year, there should be plenty of better phones to choose from by then; not too far off the Prime and the Vigor (don't know about the battery life on the Vigor though) are looking interesting too.

I went to VZW today and had a chance to really handle the Bionic. While I was impressed that the bionic didn't feel any larger than my DX, I wasn't impressed with the UI. I'm running Apex 2.0 and honestly feel that my DX is snappier going from screen to screen. Granted LTE kicks ars, but not enough for me to jump into the Bionic, not when ICS is just around the corner and the Bionic will be running an old version of Android in less than 3 months. I'll just hold tight until the Prime is released.

Well, comparing a stock bionic to a rooted, rom'd and optimized DX is a bit unfair. I had to upgrade earlier than I wanted and had to settle for the D3 instead of the bionic. I wasn't impressed with the D3 at first but once I rooted it, removed bloat, installed go launcher, and optimized some settings, it flies past my DX even with CM7, MIUI or whatever rom you want to choose. As much as I LOVED my DX, it is noticeably slower than my D3, especially when loading web pages and apps. I can only imagine what the bionic must be like once it's optimized.

nothing unfair about comparing what I have to what I don't. For me, I have to pay full retail for my next phone since I don't have an upgrade until March '12, so I'll keep my Benjis in my pocket for a while longer.
