I have an evo. When I run speed test from the evo, it is blazing fast, but when I run speed test from a device connected through wifi over the evo, it is snail slow. Browsing the web is painfully slow. 56k slow. Feels like it is 1997 all over again.

I am not rooted. I pay the monthly hot spot fee to sprint. This should be working better.

Any settings I can change on the phone or the other devices sharing the hotspot to speed it up?

Well that sucks. I pay for the Sprint HotSpot, too, and my speeds are faster than I expected. I average over 2 megs down and .5 up. I'm more than happy with it! :)

Here is my latest with the wireless evo hotspot:

    Last Result:
Download Speed: 2118 kbps (264.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 558 kbps (69.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

    this is with speakeasy.net/speedtest

You pay for it, make Sprint fix it. If nothing else, a simple call will probably get your fee credited for this month.

With Wifi Tether my connection on my laptop shows 15-20mbps, where with Sprint HotSpot my laptop shows 54mbps. I can also tell that my laptop IS much quicker when using hotspot as opposed to wifi tether...
