I emailed SGP last weekend and they said the increidble stenheil would be available end of this week or early next week.

My phone is on the fedex truck for delivery now so I got anxious and emailed them again.

is the consensus that steinheil is the best screen protector?

OP are you getting the crystal clear or anti-fingerprint iirc? does the anti-fingerprint dull the screen quality a little?

I actually have no idea yet. From reading, alot of people seem to like the steinheil, thats why I'm holding out. As for the crystal vs antiglare, I don't know. I wish I could try both and see. I too am worried about the blur from the anti-fingerprint, yet I also hate fingerprints. I have read some people saying that the crystal will also give some fingerprint reduction, so maybe thats a good medium.

Maybe I can pair up with someone. I get the crystal, the other person gets the anti-fingerprint (or vice-versa). You get two with each. Then mail eachother the remaining one so we both get one of each.

I like that idea. Kinda a cooperative approach to getting a screen protector. I'm game. I was planning on getting the anti-fingerprint.

I've got the AF/AG Steinheil on my Moto Droid, and I have to say, while i like the matte finish, it does reduce the clarity of the display slightly. If you're serious about anti-glare and anti-fingerprint, then it's great. But, having seen it in person, I will not be choosing that for my Inc.

(Yes, I have both phones -- Droid for work, Inc. for home)

How did the anti-glare on the Droid perform in direct sunlight? My droid was virtually unusable without any protectors.

Is it just me, but what is the big deal about Steinheil? What makes them so much better than Phantom Skinz for example which are more durable to begin with? I'm actually not trying to be rude, but I have seen a huge amount of hype about Steinheil and just wanted some info.

The AG on the Droid is only usable if I can manage to use my body to create a shadow. Still not very functional in true direct sunlight.

No reduction in responsiveness. The only area I've had issues was at the bottom (back, menu, home, and search buttons) though that may also be due to the Seidio Innocase on the Droid.

So in your opinion the AG is still the way to go over the Crystal?

I think comparing the two products is like apples and oranges. The Phantom Skinz is a wet application product (more similar to Zagg's InvisbleSHIELD), and the Steinheil a static (dry application), more like the Clarivue protector.

I understand Steinheil is a plastic, static (non-wet) application and protectors like Phantom Skinz are rubber, wet application. I've applied many wet application skins from various companies and have never had a problem.

My question is, aside from the material and application process, what makes it better than others? It seems like people say it's the best but I don't understand the reason. If it's clarity, I've had crystal clear clarity from Phantom Skinz and Wrapsol. Just curious of the reason.

It depends on what you're really trying to accomplish. I'm using the VZW protector on my Inc now, so I feel it would be "similar" to the Crystal as far as clarity and smudge/fingerprint issues. I gave the Droid to a coworker and he said, he loved the matte look and how well it resisted fingerprints and smudges. In fact, he still preferred it when compared to my Inc. I like the AG/AF functionality, but those features definitely reduce the clarity of the screen. This is not something I'm willing to sacrifice on my Inc., so I'll be getting the Crystal for it. So, in the end it still comes down to preference. How much clarity are you willing to sacrifice for the AG/AF capability?

I can't comment specifically to the Phantom Skinz, but until my Droid and Inc. I have only used InvisibleSHIELDS (probably upwards of 10 of them). I do NOT like the sensitivity reduction and tacky, rubbery feeling of that product on a touch screen phone. My last phones with InvisibleSHIELDS were a LG Dare, and HTC TouchPro and neither responded well (smoothly).

So, for me, "better" means scratch protection without a loss of clarity or screen sensitivity. For others, better could mean that the InvisibleSHIELD's rubbery material (and I'll speculate the Phantom Skinz) offers more protection from scratches.

Oh ok. Zagg is definitely the worst of the rubber, wet application type to me. Phantom Skinz is fine with the touch screen. So I guess it's all preference then.

Yeah, PhantomSkinz is a lot more smooth/slick than Zagg. If you haven't used one, it's hard to make the distinction, but the same could be said for Steinheil...

I put the PhantomSkinz on mine and I love it. I have used GhostArmor, BodyGuardz, and InvisibleShield as well as the Verizon ones and the ones i like best are the GhostArmor and PhantomSkinz

I have wondered that too. But I can't find anyone who has tried Phatomskinz and Steinheil crystal and compared. I don't think it is apples and oranges. Yes install is different, but both have the same goal of looking invisible and mimicing the original surface feel.

If anyone has tried both, I'd love to hear about how clear each are, how they feel, and if they resist fingerprints at all.

As for choosing crystal vs anti-fingerprint, the blurring is the #1 concern. Everyone has their own level of "what's good enough". My Monitor and TV both have matte screens and I think they look great. I've seen TV's that have the glossy screens and they do have better contrast, but neither are blurry. Actually, I think the incredible is a little too intense with the colors, I wouldnt mind if they were a tad but more dull. But I think the only way to see is to try the anti-glare and see how it looks.

I wish I could find side by side high-res macro photos of the two in order to compare. Most photos I see are zoomed out so you can't really tell or blurry.

So I have a Zagg sitting on my desk since last week, simply because I am unwilling to leave my phone off for 12 hours or whatever after I apply it. If I understand correctly, the Steinheil does not require the phone to be left off to set as it is a dry application, and many people believe it is better than Zagg?

My main concern is protecting the screen. Second is usability, third, well, whatever. Glare reduction would be nice but not as important as the first two.
