So Shazam isn't free anymore ($4.99):

    Shazamers' Blog

However, users who have used shazam before July 13th are grandfathered in so they get free shazam.

I uninstalled and reinstalled a bunch of apps and shazam happened to be one of them - but it didn't recognize me despite shazam noting it should:

"Users who downloaded 1.0 and tagged at least one song, but subsequently removed/uninstalled the application also keep unlimited tagging when they download the latest version – you do not have to keep the old version on your phone for unlimited tagging to remain. Users can also uninstall and reinstall 2.0 without affecting their grandfathered- status."

Does anyone have Shazam 1.0 or a link to the 1.0 APK that I can have? Would appreciate it.

    EDIT:
Received 1.0 - back to free. Thanks anonymous.

Glad I used it last month a lot. I also can't figure out why we don't have VCast Song ID on Android phones. Oh well, I still got Shazam now with 2.0. :)

It worked better in my opinion. Shazam doesn't allow you to purchase and download songs directly to your phone like V-cast song ID did.

You can buy directly from amazon on shazzam and many other options. I havent tried it yet, but the options are there.

It was actually something done by Verizon that worked pretty well.

It takes you to the regular Amazon website. I thought it didn't download to the Inc properly?

Soundhound is so much better and cleaner looking interface.

This is one of the reasons I paid for the full version of Pdanet. Who knows if VZW will eventually get tired of people using free tethering and gets it pulled from the app market. I use Pdanet all the time and think the developers deserve to be paid. I also use Shazam all the time and will updgrade to the paid version even though I am grandfathered.

I thought the 7 day trial was just for Shazaam Encore. The regular Shazaam is still free, but you only get to tag 5 songs per month. Everyone that downloaded Shazaam before 7/13 get the free Encore version.

UPDATED: Sorry, didn't actually click on the link to the blog. Forget I was here. lol

Someone sent me 1.0 so I'm using the old Shazam right now for free.

I looked up Sound Hound and it's 4.99. New Shazam is 4.99 too.

What happened to $1.99 apps! God I probably sound so cheap right now.

For basic use, I don't feel like one is that much better than the other. I think it's more of a UI preference. I use Shazam more since I can get free, unlimited tags, whereas I'd have to pay for Soundhound. For the free versions, I think that Shazam offers more though.

$4.99 for these apps is crazy. Don't support apps with outrageous pricing!!!

Will somebody send me Shazam 1.0, please? PM me.

I have to agree, .99 or 1.99 is about as much as im willing to pay for a app.
