I suggest buying from an official reseller instead of buying from any "company" on aliexpress. All you get from them are trouble.

Just quoting one of the people who gave feedback on that specific item:
Seems like this guy is recommending that company though: (check comments)

Anyone here bought their unit from them?

I know someone who ordered through there, got exactly what they advertised but did have a problem. he was out in contact with support in the US and they got him a new charger and a link to the latest firmware pretty fast. Every Seller including chinagrabber and it's many incarnations are going to have occasional problems.

You just have to order where you feel comfortable. Check out rep online do a little digging. Chinagrabber still is the official source for branded iBex Flytouch 3.

    Richarbe, where are you located?

    I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

Model number is shown as ....generic.. so most likely updated firmware isn't available
battery is quoted as 9volt @ 8000mAh...which it simply cannot be..it wouldn't fit in the case.....

    Thanks guys for your reply's!
Yeah it's because of that youtube clip that made me want to buy it from there.
Im located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

When I saw their official internet page of their store it seemed okay to me... but I can never know for sure: Shenzhen Kingdom Electronics Technology Ltd. - tablet pc, MID UMPC, android tablet pc

So what do you guys suggest I should do? What suppliers (site links) do you recommend? I just want a lag free tablet..... and maybe want to install Tim's rom on it

    flytouch | eBay

Ask any of the sellers for this info:

If you get an answer of disco or disco10 and yes - the battery is 6400 or higher, then you will be fine, if the answers differ or they do not reply - stay away.

Do NOT believe any bs they tell you, like sawee or P041 is a better model, they are not and there is hardly any custom rom support out there for them models and tim rom will NOT work on them models, stick with disco/disco10 as at today and you will be ok.

You are then protected by ebay & paypal by the written answers they give you in return.

If you wish to save more money and go direct, then try chinagrabber or priced-in-china for the Ibex Flytouch 3 16GB model, if you search these forum here you will find the links, they are of a decent quality and work with tims rom, but delays in delivery & returns are what you need to take into consideration here.

Do your homework, make your choice and pays your money :)

    Good luck.

Oke so you guys suggest I should buy from Chinagrabber for the best tablet?

Btw whats the difference between these two models?

    16GB iBex FlyTouch3 aPad - Gps SuperPad II - Android 2.2 Tablet PCs - Flash 10.1

    vs.

16gb iBex FacePad - GPS Android 2.2 Tablet PC - Froyo Flash10.1 Apad

Can I install Tims rom 4e on these models?

And does anyone know where the chinagrabber store or factory is located in China? Because I'm going there next year..... and gonna kick their asses if it doesnt work properly :p

I'm not suggesting where you buy it from, just that you do your homework and make your own choice.

imo I would always buy from as close to me as possible for returns & refunds reasons.

Facepad is supplied with firmware P041 installed, as at today there is no custom rom created, so you are not getting the best out of the tablets as one might expect.

The Ibex FT3 16GB is supplied with Disco10 installed, which is suitable for tim5a (and earlier if required) custom rom, so the usability of the tablet is enhanced 10 fold, and maybe even more in future if tim or others create better custom roms.

As to where they are, maybe others with the knowledge could answer that one?

Yes, and I love it. It feeds my brain.

Battery is a bit crap, but the new models have better batteries these days.

You just have to find alternate ways to get Android Apps onto your device, there is more to life than Google Apps Market, my family in the US set me up an amazon account, so I get to use the Amazon Apps Store, there are other ways too, like driodappz (google it for further info), mobilism forum (again google it), or just google for the app name and put apk on the end, it generally finds it.

The problem with China is they are not yet service industry orientated, the customer does not come first - profit does, pile them high sell them cheap and if a customer complains - ignore them.

If your model works out of the box and works well (most do of course), you will be very happy, if it doesn't, you will not be happy and getting support to get your problem solved is very very hard, so be aware it's not about how cheap it is sometimes, it's about customer service and quality of product too.

    Good luck.

    Nice

Yes I understand the situation dealing with people from China.
Can you tell me how long your battery last after full use? And how long do you need to charge it?

I'm lucky if I get 3 hours use out of these days.

I charge it overnight, so have never managed to sit & watch to see how long it takes these days.

I actually bought a new UK Charger, with a 2 meter cord, which gives me plenty of room now to manoeuvre around and the plug stays plugged in without keep coming loose via the adapters they send.

I thought exactly the same thing when I saw that youtube review - the fact is, if you get a bad one you'll end up wasting time and money, eventually spending more than it would cost for the real deal.

    Quote of the Month.
Exactly the story for almost all chinese electronics providers.

Did you get your UK charger from ebay? I'm going to need one too - dont trust using those dodgy UK travel adapters they send.

Yes, and I would recommend anyone (in the UK for this one) to replace the supplied charger asp. And it's actually 2.5 meters.

    SUPERPAD 2 FLYTOUCH 3 HEAVYDUTY 2.5MTR MAINS CHARGER 5V | eBay

Just ensure you do have the FT3 with Disco10 5V model, ie read the description they provide.

And do you have a Star A2000 - does android market work ok, can it be rooted and would you get a similar model again. Those dual sim 4.3" phones look appealing, so first hand experience would be great. I might go and ask in the other phone section here as well.

Sorry for taking this slightly OT - but if I asked in the phone section, you prob wouldn't see it :)

    Thanks, just ordered it.

As for the Star A2000, its a great phone. A very responsive screen with a good size and can access android market with no problems - even the paid apps. It can play youtube videos thru the youtube app (havent tried thru the browser yet), analog tv is good to play with when I'm bored. Downsides are: the battery life isnt great, it comes installed with a load of junk apps, cant seem to play games smoothly, cant find out how to use live wallpapers and it turns itself off whenever it wants to.

Havent tested it with dual sims, 3G (dunno if it even has 3G, or just EDGE) or GPS yet - use my other phone for that (bb).

I havent tried rooting it (I'm quite new to android and dont want to mess about too much and end up with a brick). Cant seem to find much support or many other users with the phone. I would definitely buy a similar model again in the future - definitely worth the money.

    - Sorry to the OP for going off-topic lol

You could always fo what I did and write a simple script that writes the time and battery level to a file, sleeps for 67 seconds and loops...

You will, eventually, end up with a complete charge / discharge profile in the output file.

I get about eight hours continual use from all three of my tablets; a disco and two debs using the original chargers.

Nice one! And how do you do that? Battery is very important to me, because I want to take the tablet with me while travelling without having to charge all of a sudden. And do you have more tips that improve battery life?

Also for the people who want to know, I have their (Chinagrabbers) adress in Shenzen/ HK ... maybe I'll stop by their factory or store next year just out of curiosity to see where these tablets exactly come from

For the people who have already bought from Chinagrabber can you confirm this is the address?

For you, and any others who might be interested, here is my little script...
    Code (Text):
    1.
    2. BATDIR=/sys/devices/platform/battery.0/power_supply/battery/
    3.
    4. cd $BATDIR
    5.
    6. while `true`
    7. do
    8.     echo `date` : `cat capacity`
    9.     sleep 67
    10. done
    11.
As I say, nothing special, all it does is print the date and time followed by the current battery capacity, sleep for 67 seconds then do it all again.

It is stored on my sdcard as /sdcard/Batt and I run it in the background with the output redirected to a file thus:

    Code (Text):
    1.
    2. /sdcard/Batt >/sdcard/BattLog &
    3.
My most useful figures have been obtained thus:
    1. Fully charging the battery, starting the script and running the tablet until the battery dies (discharge profile).
    followed by:
    2. Plugging in the charger, starting the script and leaving it until the batteries are fully charged (charging profile).

I wrote this script after I published my blog, the figures there were taken on an ad hoc basis, which can be found here.

I hope this helps you plan your usage better.

    Nothing spectacular:

    1. Don't use WiFi unless you have to as this seems to be a major drain on the battery.
    2. The same applies to the 3G modem although, from observation, this seems to use a lot less power.
    3. Use headphones rather than the internal speakers not only do you get a better sound but as they sound louder the volume can be set lower.
    4. Have the screen blank after 30 seconds. If you are using the tablet the screen won't blank, if you're not it will save the battery.

    Regards
    tbod

Although Chinagrabber appears to have a pretty good reputation judging by many posts about them, I strongly recommend that you look for a local seller, even if you have to pay a bit more. I am in the US and bought an Ibex FT3 from a seller in Massachusetts. I'm very happy I did, because I had a lot of problems initially. Not only was the seller quick to replace what was broken, but it provided superb technical support along with a real warranty. I realize that the situation may be different in the Netherlands (or maybe all of Europe), but I would recommend doing a search before sending any money to China.

    Hi,

Unfortunately we dont have any local suppliers here.
I am going to China next year and I hope that someone can give me their address. They sent me information about their location, but I want to cross- check before sending any money to China. If I encounter any problems with my order or product I will pay them a visit next year.

I did a quick look on eBay and came up with this UK seller 10.2" Flytouch 3 SUPERPAD ANDROID 2.2 16GB TABLET PC | eBay. There are hundreds of listings, so I think you might find one even closer to the Netherlands. Also some of the US and Canadian sellers will ship to Europe. If you can find one with good tech support, they might be worth considering. US prices are a lot lower than Europe, and with free email and cheap phone these days, you would have good access to that support.

I know iam not an expert in this section but I can suggest against ebay. Ebay users usually end up in a sweet scam that you can;t get yourself out of. For example the link you sent him sells a Superpad 3 which is knows that its usually a close of Superpad 2 with usually lower quality and battery. Even some people have agreed that when they take apart FT3 bought from an unreliable source they end up seeing that it does not have what the description from where they bought it said.

Also yes your right buying from chinagrabber , at least when I did was like heads or tails. I took it out right away testing out if it charged right and if the sound worked etc. Also the BS that the apad.tv admin says about the shipping fast... is BS. The only and only reason I bought from chinagrabber was because i found good words about it in 3 different forums including this one. And actually it was the "whatever it says in the description you will get" part.

Now if you do not mind buying a clone go ahead. look up in ebay for a re seller that is close and buy from them as long as they have high positive feedback. Also remember to look at the description close cause once you buy it you have agreed to it, there is no way your going to tell them they scammed you with a clone since this is what they post in the description. There is no such thing as great quality or amazing pad. For its money, it rocks! That is all. Just make sure you buy one that is a disco model and not any other.

Here is also a link to "Authorized" Resellers. I remember this because before some time ChinaGrabber was down and i was seeing this link everywhere.

I wouldn't calling Chinagrabbers fast shipping a BS as I got my tablet from China to Finland in 10 days, it was sent from china a day after the purchase

Well mine was sent a week after a paid and it was actually 2 days after i emailed them asking if there is something wrong with them just telling me they are just processing my purchase. And half a month after than to arrive. It was more or less 20+days when they say about 7 days. Its not like I have a problem with waiting. I was relieved when i tested the tablet an was fine.
