Better said - Can I Root my UK Unlocked HTC Sensation ? How ?

And what benefits will I get ?

My phone is 2 months old and I know it can void the warranty, but like the Iphone surely I could restore the ROM if I had any probs. couldnt I?

Thanks in advance guys ;)

+1 Great post from Eddy above.

I can't recommend rooting enough and just to add to the benefits, custom ROM's allow you to remove sense (if you like), over clock the processor, better battery, remove any system apps you don't want, get updates faster etc.

There's lots ;)

Will that root guide work for my UK T-Mobile Sensation?

I rooted my original Desire and Flashed the LeeDrOiD ROM's so which ROM's are the best out their for the Sensation?

If you follow the guide and revolutionary fails then your device is not supported although i think you should be alright as i imagine you're on t-mobile but actually have an unbranded device? Where did you buy the Sensation from?

I'm using Android Revolution HD as per my siggy, great ROM. Fast, stable and good battery life

Rooting is reversible for insurance and warranty purposes and the procedure is all in the guide too ;)

Only if an RUU of the original ROM is available.

EVERYONE should check to see if an RUU is available for their original ROM before doing ANYTHING like rooting. Otherwise there is no way of getting back to stock and, as such, no way of returning the unit under warranty

To check your existing ROM, go to Settings>About phone>Software information and make a note of the 'Software version'. This is the ROM build and you then need to find an RUU matching that build. If in doubt, post your version and I'll see what I can find

Got it from the T-Mobile shop, there's no branding apart from on the lock screen where it says T-Mobile, plus 2 little apps.

Might give it a go though.

Post your version and we'll confirm but it sounds like you have the T-Mobile ROM not the unbranded one. If that's the case I don't think the Vodafone UK RUU has leaked yet

They're never officially released, they tend to leak from various sources...I'll take a look about for you, though. What baseband (radio) are you currently using?

And also, on the same screen as the radio version can you post the full build number?

Thanks, appreciated:

Baseband version = 10.43a.9007.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3

Build number = 1.34.110.1 CL79935 release-keys

This is the first phone i rooted, also first Android and it works like a charm. All the guides are easy to follow.

Can i use this RUU also with my german T-Mobile branded Sensation?

I want to root it, but i haven't found a matching RUU for the T-Mobile branding yet.

The software on my phone currently is:

Software: 1.45.111.2
Baseband: 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M
Build number: 1.45.111.2 CL134246 release-keys

I hope someone can find a matching german RUU.

Thanks in advance!

Some help needed please, gone all the way through to rooting, tried to Flash the su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip file but get an error message saying:

E:Error in /sdcard/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip (Status 0)
Installation aborted.

Any help appreciated.

*** EDIT: Scrap that, should have read the troubleshoot first :( Tried it another couple of times and now it works, woop! :D

Not seen a German T-Mobile RUU anywhere but I'll take a look

Thanks for the help!

On the other side, can i also (the only thing i want to ensure is that i can return to stock T-Mobile ROM if there's a warranty issue):

- S-OFF/root
- Do a backup with CWM

and if there's a warranty issue do this:

- Restore the backup with CWM
- S-ON again

Would this be an option ie will this work?
