Signal Issue when in WiFi, terrible battery life - HELP

I ordered the LG Nexus 5X from the Google Play Store and just got it yesterday. I am running a Verizon Straight Talk SIM card in the phone. I called and activated it but when the phone is connected to WiFi, the signal bars will go away and come back but the phone won't lose service. I can still send and receive SMS and MMS when this happens. But the bars will just go blank. And it doesn't do this when WiFi is disconnected. Also when it is connected to WiFi, I get this:

Network: Verizon Wireless
Signal Strength: -110 dBm 30 asu
Cellular Network Type: LTE
Service State: In Service
Roaming: Not Roaming
Cellular Network State: Disconnected

Also, the battery drains super fast on my device. It doesn't seem like anything is draining fast from apps. I don't know what to do. I really like this phone but I can't have the battery dying every 3-4 hours.

That's very strange.

Not sure where you are, but if you're in Europe you're within your 14 days: I would contact Google and have them provide a replacement phone.

The alternative would be to try removing an apps you've installed to see if that fixes the issue. If it does, add the apps back one at a time, checking if the problems come back after installing each one.

Don't know if you're still having issues with battery life, but I suddenly started getting them last week. Instead of my phone losing a couple of % overnight, the battery was going from 50% to dead.

To fix the issue, I backed up the contents of my phone to a laptop and did a factory reset.

When I came to set up the phone again, I simply selected the restore from backup option then deselected a couple of apps that I suspected might be causing the problem. I then copied everything back from my laptop and was up and running again in around an hour. Last night, I left the phone around 99% charged, when I checked it this morning it was down to 97%.
