About an hour ago the phone rebooted when it started back up I had full bars. Now have -50db. Wasn't any notice but think there was a forced update?

For those of you having battery problems, signal strength is a huge factor. I'm on vacation and VERY close to a cell tower (-60db outdoors, -70 indoors). The phone is absolutely sipping from the battery. I think I could go two full days on a charge. Haven't dropped below 60% during the day with light-to-moderate use.

Not that I know of: at my house -70 at my moms -92 and rebooting (25 minutes away). called verizon today and they said they don't know about rebooting issue. I did try *228 and the nattery trick. I need to call from my moms house so they can do an ota diagnosis.

I've had fantastic coverage at home and at work (and most of Seattle, actually). I plan on spending the day tomorrow around town and checking what my signal strength is.

At home I've seen it at -47 (though I heard the lowest was -50 but both of our phones were in the upper 40's) and right now it's -54. Verizon has been good, which is the main reason we decided to upgrade to the Incredible instead of switching to AT&T when our contract expired earlier this year.

I also posted in the battery thread that I was on like 54 hours of uptime and 3 hours of awake time on a charge (granted fairly light-moderate use). Knock on wood this continues! :)

Incredible is the worst for call quality and reception...THE WORST.. Returned mine after a week...adios. Hello EVO.

I live in an area with bad reception to begin with and this phone does no worse than my previous phones. I generally range from around -92 to -102dBm and have had no trouble making and holding calls.

As far as the EVO, nobody knew what the signal on the Incredible was like until it was tested a few days prior to release. It's very possible that the EVO may have similar issues with signal as what some are experiencing. And depending on who has a better network in your area, you may be sacrificing a better network on the chance that that phone will have stouter signal capabilities. Just some food for thought.

This is strange... My friend lives in an area where reception has been so bad that its almost impossible to send texts, usually you have to stand on one leg and balance the phone on your head while standing on his front porch. With that being said, I have sent 3 text messages from his house with no problem. Granted I am still only getting 1 bar there but compared to his phone (LG Dare) which is getting zero bars, I think I'm doing pretty well.

Have a coworker that cant even send texts from his VZ BB Tour...sit right next to him and I can make/receive calls, text, and 3G with no problems. Not the best signal but it still works. (and we are in the smack dab middle of a pretty big building)

I have seen an improvement in my reception too! I thought it was a fluke at first. I never did a ota update or *228 update or anything.

I used to have -99 to -102 now I have -85 to -89 :D Don't know what happened but it's awesome!

I've never done *228 either phone just rebooted randomly and had good signal ever since. Was even using 3g and making phone calls inside a home that when I had my Droid i had to always go into the yard to make a call.

I'm just a total loser, but I made a signal monitor app, its in the market "Real Signal". Ifs still basic, but it adds a static 5 bar into your notification bar. You can customize the bar signals too.

Could the updated coverage come from some possible tower upgrades? I have always had 1-2 bars in my home and currently around -92dbm...I would like to see this get better, but I think that's a tower issue and not the phone. My last BB Curve was the same thing here.

The signal bars on the display are truly not indicative of the signal strength. I have one bar and am currently showing -70dbm indoors... I LOVE VERIZON!!!

Updated:
Scratch that... -58dbm indoors... I will repeat, I LOVE VERIZON!!!

HTC emailed me that they are aware of the problem and are currently working on a ROM to fix the signal problem, fwiw. Hope it works.

i could care less how many bars, or what my signal number is; I just want phone calls to sound like they should, not garbled, broken up, or like I am underwater..
Dont know what to do about this...
