I installed the new OTA yesterday. Now when I boot up the phone, it goes "DROID". How can it silence it, without putting the phone on silent mode. Or can it even be done? It used to not make a sound when I turned the thing on, now it says "DROID".

What he's trying to say is you need to be rooted.

    That seems to work. Thanks!
If others have other solutions short of rooting, feel free to chime in.
