I've been looking around for any sign of a release for a simple root for the inspire.

Has there been talk of a simple root in the near future?

Unless someone finds a new exploit, rooting the Inspire will never be a simple "one-click" process. There is a "one-click" GUI version of the existing hack kit, but it still requires you to create a goldcard first (a step that seems problematic for a lot of users).

No one can rule out the possibility of someone finding a new exploit that makes rooting simpler, but since the existing technique is a piece of cake for the experts, few of them are interested in spending their valuable time looking for something easier.

I have no problem with working to create a goldcard. Could you possibly post the name of the GUI program and gold card creation?

Disclaimer: I have been following the linked discussion thread, but have not actually used the tool. With years of Linux development experience, I'm far more comfortable with attn1's command oriented Inspire Hack Kit. Many have had good success with the GUI tool, some have not. You may want to skim the 232 pages of discussion before diving in.
