On a brandnew X, how do you get into the software without activating? Is there a way to skip it for now?

    SEARCHED ALREADY!

Without activation you can only do stuff that doesn't require access to the internet. You could take pictures and play around with the widgets or play the need for speed game but you wont be able to make calls, text, use the market, or browse the internet. There was a line when I got my droid x so while I was waiting to get activated they let me play with the phone.

you can use the market and browse internet by enabling wifi
you don't need to be on the 3G network in order to do that.

the only thing you won't be able to do is make/receive calls and text messages

I know when I had the Incredible I was able to bypass the activation by hitting activate then canceling the call right after. After a few failed activation attempts the phone bypassed it and went to the homescreen. Not sure if it will work for the X but give it a shot.

When you see the green android guy, press the 4 corners of the screen in the black area clockwise
    • top left
    • top right
    • bottom right
    • bottom left

    It should close it
If you want to open it again, go the the app drawer and go to My Accounts
