I am relatively new to the Android system. I have an EVO and was told that Fring was the best APP for using Skype on my Android EVO. Is there another solution since Skype disconnected Fring? Any idea when a direct Skype application will be available for the EVO Android? Thanks.

I've been reading about this lately. Since Fring was using some Skype code without permission, I doubt Fring will ever work with Skype.

Also, Skype for Android is pre-installed on selective (one Verizon?) phone now but should be available later this year (Fall) for everyone else.

Can't be soon enough. I am stranded down here in Buenos Aires with no Skype.... I just posted a similar thread about this earlier today.
