This is really cool for me at least because I have a good friend who is in Costa Rica for a year and I can also use this to call my parents for free minutes since they are on AT&T with an Iphone and could just use wifi at home. I just thought I would share the good news!!

I just wish US can keep up with the cellular technology as Korea can when phones in Korea can actually do live video chats through its cameras. It'll come one day.

OK, I downloaded the new Android Skype app on my Verizon Motorola Droid and called a friend at his computer via Skype.

We spoke for about 5 minutes. I could hear him perfectly, but he had to turn his speakers up all the way, put his ear right next to the speakers and still he complained the whole time that I sounded very muffled.

Though he said there was no static or crackliness.

He forbade me, however, from calling him back unless I was on my computer!

I looked for some Skype setting to allow me to turn up my in-call volume but couldn't find anything.

I'd like to hear anyone else's Skype Droid experiences and if anyone has suggestions about improving the call quality I'd love to hear them.

Also, an interesting thing I noticed was.... I initiated the call to my friend with a Skype text message from my phone and he called me.

But when he called the Skype app rang me on both my computer and my phone at the same time. So I guess they aren't mutually exclusive.

I don't have anyone to skype with now... but I called the "echo" service. It worked perfectly.
