    Hi,

I don't think i understand why to use skype. If you access skype through your server, T-Mobile in my case, aren't you paying the server anyway?

Why is this in Introductions? Anyway, Skype gets no revenue from your phone service provider. They have overhead and people to pay just like everyone else. Skype to Skype is free but if you want to call regular land lines and secure your own number then your going to have to pay and albeit small fee.

What? I am not sure what you're asking but I'll try to answer...

You pay skype a small fee and you can call anywhere in the world. You either use wifi, or if you paid for web from your carrier and they support it, you can use 3g/2g. Compared to using your cell minutes, this is a great way to save. And if the person you're calling is using skype you can call them for free without even paying for skype minutes.

My question is if I have to connect with my carrier to connect to Skype won't i be using minutes for all the time I'm on skype? If so what's the point?

Aha! Now I think I have an answer that i understand. I hope! If I understood this right the calls I make on my android will go through the data plan and not be charged to minutes on my cell plan. Correct?

One thing missing here is that Skype to Skype calls do not cost you anything but bandwidth.
So if your friend has skype you could (when it is available) talk to them as long as you like without costing anything or using you phone minutes. You would use bandwidth, so you you pay by the byte it would be costly, but for unlimited data people it would at no additional costs.

Keep in mind, MOST carriers do have 5GB softcaps, you go over too much, they pull the plug.
