So I received a text message from a friend with an attachment. Clicked on the attachment (picture) and it said downloading. Then nothing. Do the downloads go somewhere? I would've assumed the picture would open up in the message body??

    Thanks!

Try using Astro or some other file browser, start at the root of the SD card and look in "Download" or "Downloads" folder.

Don't want to seem like I am doubting your searching skills for media, but is it possible that the image went straight into downloads under the gallery content?

Other than that, I would assume that when you did download the file (a picture I'm assuming), that when you go back into your messages a small picture of the picture would be viewable.

I could be waaay off here considering I'm new to Android.:D

it should be viewable by using astro or estrongs as mentioned above..or should be in your gallery (assuming it is a picture)

I am having this same problem. I had the person send the picture and video to my email address. Ended up being HUGE files...so I am thinking maybe the file is too big to download so it stops the download and deletes it?

    Is that a possibility?

I am having the same issue. I looked in "gallery" and they are not there.
