I have updated to 2.2 on the day it was released and I did a hard reset. Recently, maybe in the last 2 weeks, I have been randomly experiencing lag when typing in the default messages app.

I can type full words, or even a few words before any of them show up as typed. Even if I wait for it to catch up to my typing, and then continue, the same problem continues.

Anyone else have this problem or know what to do to fix it?

I have this same problem, and would live to hear any possible solutions or theories regarding the keyboard lag. It is very frustrating because most of the time as the lag occurs, the autocorrect tends to stop working while the phone catches up.

Yeah, I've been reading and it appears to be an issue on different phones as well after the 2.2 update. People have recommended downloading a different keyboard, which apparently fixes the problem, but I would rather not do that.

Yeah I'd rather not do that either, I love this soft keyboard, it was a big selling point on getting an HTC phone with sense.

    no fix.

i use better keyboard and it's still there. every single keyboard has lag; it's a problem with 2.2 and a hard reset does NOT fix it (in my case it didn't, anyway.) guess we're just screwed until they decide that maybe they want to fix it.

    Yea, same lag with swype.

Reset doesn't help, neither does rooting and deleting bloat; So it's not a memory issue.

Have any of you tried turning off all prediction, word completion, spell check, sound, etc. I never use them and my keyboard seems fine.

Stock 2.2, rooted with some packages removed but I think that has no bearing on the issue

    Yes, prediction/completion etc. are off.
    Still have the lag.

I guess my next question then is do you have a lot of saved text messages. I tend to delete threads regularly so only have maybe 30 or 40 sitting there.

I typically don't delete them, but it doesn't lag every time I type a text, only once in a while. My roommate has 2.2 on his DInc and hasn't had any keyboard lag at all, default keyboard and default messages app.

I don't text, and no one has my phone email, so ....

No, no texts or emails at all on the phone.

I use the keyboard for forums.

They better fix this issue and fast. This pisses me off. This and the battery issue are two big issues for me
