I have a text message notification showing 1 message is unread. When I click to messages, there are no unread messages.

This also shows in the bar on the home screen. I can reveal the notifications and even choose clear to make it go away but shortly after it returns and the 1 on the messaging icon does not go away ever.

I have done virtually everything (including call AT&T and Samsung Support) but their only advice is a Factory Reset. That's a monster pain.

I have seen some other phones (mostly windows) have this issue and can fix with apps. Any such thing for Android?

do you have any other messaging apps installed..maybe one that you forgot you had installed?

you have tried a battery pull?

you have tried "clearing data" for messaging?

if you have tried those and it is still there...unfortunately a hard reset is going to be the fix

Well, I have tried all you mention and did not have another messaging app. Surprised Samsung did not suggest the clear data option but it did not fix it permanently, just removed the bar notification for a little while.

Such a shame to have this as I once thought we had a brilliant phone! Now it falls to the ranks of iPhone and Windows!

This said, I still say it is the best phone I have seen thus far.

Appreciate your efforts to help here.
