Anyone hear when flash player 10 is suppose to be released, since its not with 2.1?
Why would it be released with 2.1?
Adobe Flash and 2.1 aren't related. Adobe will have to release this on their own.
Well, I don't know how soon, but the new Slingbox app is supposed to release this summer. The app is built with Flash, so I guess it's semi safe to assume sometime between when we get the 2.1 update, and summer...
Oh, I thought this update was Adobe 2.1.....My Bad
I might be getting a bit nit-picky here, but that statement might not be 100% true. It is possible that Flash 10.1 only works with Android 2.1. At least, that's what many have implied. I won't believe it until I test it, but that's what I've read over and over. That said, Adobe won't release Flash 10.1 for the DROID until the official 2.1 update has been fully released. Make sense?
The bottom line: We wait. Patience is still a virtue.
Adobe has "projected" Q2 of 2010 for release. It should be a direct download from the Adobe website when ready, so we won't have to wait for an OTA update for it. And so we wait...
I remember them saying Q1 during Q4 2009. Watch, in Q2 they're going to "project" that it'll be out in Q3.
Thanks, thats what i wanted to know.
I think I am one of the few that couldn't care less about Flash inclusion. So many more important things - like saving apps to SD card.
I am a developer, and we refuse to develop in Flash. Not a single site I use or visit is poor because I do not have Flash. As a matter of fact, I use browser plugins that turn off Flash content and I can click it to enable the Flash piece IF I even need it. Why? As 99% of the time it is an ad banner or some worthless content I do not even need.
Of the hundreds upon hundreds of sites I visit I never, ever loose out by having Flash turned off. I would never miss it if it never came out on the Droid. It is fun now and then, but for real productivity and sites of value, Flash has minimal real true usage IMHO... unless you want banners and ads as IMHO, making a fully Flash site or navi area that is Flash driven is a poor usability idea.
I wanna watch videos from hulu on droid. To do that I need flash 10
I am SO not a virtuous woman! I want it and I want it NOW!
Not going to happen unfortunately. Hulu blocks mobile devices and consoles (like the PS3)...
Thats what i heard too, hulu blocks. but there are other things i want
Even if it is blocked, if we were to use dolphin and have our user agent set to desktop would it work?
Not sure exactly how blocking mobile works, but sites that always direct you to a mobile site will give you the normal site when this is set to desktop, so maybe it will work?
If you find out let me know.
Once we have flash, what if we don't watch through hulu? If I just go to abc.com, for instance, then I could watch episodes?
Unless they find a clever way to block us, it should be A-O-K!
Its coming and june.
...and possibly bundled with Froyo (2.2).
It's supposed to be released sometime during the first half of 2010.... so soon?
Yep, that's right it's due to be released in the second quarter!
So after that article, this is my best guess...
Devs get Froyo at Google IO on the dev Droids and N1s that google gave out. Said devs will leak it to the market, and we will have 2.2 (w/flash 10.1) shortly after (hopefully May). and the masses will get Froyo/Flash in June...
Works for me
Sounds about right to me!
