You have to add a data plan, so if your dropping a grandfathered unlimited plan you may risk losing it. Not worth it for me. I'll keep the my grandfathered data plan forever.

Verizon wireless told me that its my phone number that is grandfathered in so even if I took my number off my moms family plan and hot my own plan since its my number that is grandfathered in ill always have unlimited.

Be careful with that. My wife broke her Droid OG a couple of days ago and took in my Razor to hold her over until I can get a Bionic and she will get my DroidX. The Verizon salesperson told her if she activated the Razor, her plan would change and she would lose her unlimited data. Sounds strange to me, but that is what she was told.

That actually makes sense because there's no need for a data plan with the Razr. (at least I assume there were no data plans back then)

Yes, your line is until you make a plan change. You'd have to make a plan change to receive it. You would no longer be grandfathered. And they may not give it to you anyway considering you had it, which is likely the case. You'd be stuck with 2GB of data with nothing to show for it.

I agree.. the razor has no smartphone data plan so they (original poster) would need to change the wireless plan...therefore losing the grandfathered privileges of unlimited data.

Be careful! I lost my unlimited data when I activated my LG Dare. They finally restored the unlimited data, but only after 3 weeks and my purchase of an Eris on ebay.
