Root So my settings --> about phone says my kernel is 3.4.0 does this matter?

Tbqh I do not even know what a kernel does, nor had I heard of something flashable called a kernel until I found this forum. Basically I have tried out every rom and tweak posted here (<3 you guys some day I will pay you devs back as well as pay it forward) so I probably have some random kernel flashed.

Since I have yet to google what a kernel is, I am wondering if this could effect my phone in any way. I am currently using xxpako's [sp?] B11 (since my downloaded ota failed after trying every suggestion posted around here) and superR's original partition updater with no problems and much better performance imo. But could a kernel flash let me take this gravy train further before the biscuit wheels fall off my sequent?

lol A Kernel is what powers the phone, its what powers almost every operating system out there from computer OS's and Phone OS's like windows, Mac, Linux, IOS, Android Blackberry. The kernel is the main system core of Android which controls the entire hardware that is available on system such as display, processor, memory, wifi, bt, RAM, brightness, volume, call radio, etc.

Take a look at these picture, pretty much sums it up lol

Right now there are no JB 4.1.2 modded kernels to flash and i dont suggest that you go back down to a 3.0 kernel instead of sticking with your current 3.4 kernel. So right now until modded kernels are available, appreciate what Project Butter is doing

I wonder if SerenityOC or another custom kernel might come out of this. Since this is a new kernel maybe the bugs from the old one are fixed and new ones arent so bad

we can work on the kernel as soon as zte releases the source. They may have already released it, but i doubt it lol

Ah ok. I just thought maybe the kernel could be pulled from one of the partitions in the update and then pulled apart from there
