I love it. Saves me money to buy a protector.

It is not a screen protector. It is a shatterproof film. It makes it so the glass stays together if it breaks. You can remove it if you don’t care about the glass shattering.
I myself will replace the screen if it breaks or cracks. I don’t understand these people walking around with iPhones with the screen shattered. The film does scratch easy and the screen looks great without it. I haven’t removed mine yet but I will soon.

pre applied factory screen protector ? - xda-developers
    Enjoy.

DiamondFlurry, I should apologize. I laughed when I read your post because I thought you were talking about the film that they put over the screen before shipping - the one that is obviously NOT a screen protector. It was only when people started replying that I went back and examined my Play close enough and finally saw it...

I thought my Play was "naked" so I was planning on getting a screen protector for it. I think I will wait until this one develops a scratch or begins peeling - no sense wasting it...

I didn't even realize it was on there. But upon removing it, the screen is brighter, works better outdoors in sunlight, and the screen feels better and more precise. This is my third glass capacative touchscreen, so far not one scratch on any of them. I love to have my phone naked.

Holy crap, did not even realize it was there! Anytime I hear people talk about the preinstalled screen protector, I thought they meant the flimsy one for shipping.

I'm tempted to take it off, since the poster above me says it works better, and looks better outdoors. Anybody else able to test that? I'd hate to remove it, since it looks like it's not even there (something I will NEVER be able to replicate again).

Mine came off last week after reading a post over at XDA.

I took mine off as well. I was having dimming issues & once I took it off wow. No more dimming issues. The screen has a better feel & is more vibrant. The touch screen now is easily more responsive.

I wanted an anti-glare screen protector for mine so the verizon salesman suggested the one for the droid x2.

    it fit perfectly.

now i don't have to stare through the reflected lights to see my games.

I peeled off the anti-shatter film on mine the other day after seeing some scuffs on the film from being in my pocket. I didn't notice any huge difference visually, but the screen doesn't get as smeared with fingerprints now and the feel is more natural to me.

I can't tell you how much better this post makes me feel. I also had no idea that was on there. I was getting so dang pissed that my phone was scratching and fingerprinting so easily. I was ready to chick it in the garbage. (honestly).

I had only had my phone for two weeks. I was getting ready to get a screen protector on it but I figured why bother since it already looks like its been through a porcupines rectum. Now i realize I can take it in and have the film removed before I get a shield and it will be all shiny and happy super good. I feel a freakin million times better.

    Thanks all,:D

How did you get it off?! I can see the little ring around it but can't pry it up! I wanna see if removing it will help with the kinda dull look the screen has.

Haha! Had this phone since March and didn't even notice this. And it really is stuck on good. Was scared I was going to break it pulling it off.

I think this in a universal thing on all models because mines an un-branded UK phone.

It isn't a screen protector it is a shatter film. It keeps the glass from going to pieces if it breaks. I removed it and it is much better. If mine cracks I would replace the screen anyway. (I also have an iphone 3GS backup) You just need to us a pin to lift the corner by the buttons.
