So why is the nexus one the only phone with 2.1 still?

Anyone else been wondering about that? I Know that some of these newer phones being released may have been in development in before hand, but the pace could be picked up like HTC (however the updates on sense don't count because that's HTC's business)

I thought it was released for the Droid a couple of weeks ago?

    Because it's Google's flagship phone?

That and other manufacturers, ala Samsung, Motorola et al, are shitty with OS updates. Not Google's fault.

Because the N1 is the only phone without the added bureaucracy and burden of carriers, manufacturers, etc. that require their own QA/QC checks and processes to push out an update. This is the #1 reason to pick up only a Google phone: Unhindered, immediate, as-they're-made updates.

But the 2.1 update 1 build for the DROID is already floating out there and it works very well. Of course, it's a neutered version, but 2.1 nonetheless.

Ahh that explains alot. It's just it's been out a while and since the Droid is verizon AND motorola's baby, it should of actually been out a long time ago.

I think the N1 will get the first updates for some time, since it's Google's baby.

Why is the N1 the only phone with 2.1 still?

Because the Nexus One is the best phone out there and everyone else's phone is inferior and beneath us.

(JK, sort of, that is how an apple fanboy would talk)
