I am rooted with Unrevoked (not sure which version). Currently, My Software Number is 3.29.651.5. I have yet to accept the software upgrade. Should I upgrade to 3.70.651.1? If yes, what is the correct way to accomplish this while remaining rooted with Unrevoked? Will I need to update to a newer version of Unrevoked?

    Thank you

no! dont do the software update.
If you want to upgrade to the 3.70 software version, what you need to do is flash the updated rom found here:
    [ROM] RUU SuperSonic EvO 3.70.651.1 OTA - Stock - Sense - Deodexed & Odexed Version - xda-developers
Deodexed ROMs allow for flashing themes (custom fonts, color themes, notification bar icons, etc.)
Also, you need to flash the radios. They are found here:
    [ Radios ][ 12-17 ] All EVO Radio, WiMAX, PRI, NV & HBoot versions - xda-developers
Instructions on how to flash these can be found in the guide here:
    http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies-extras.html

If you need any help, we are all here to get you through it. Just dont let the phone update itself. This all seems daunting, but you also dont want to unroot, update, reroot. Some people ask if they can do that, it is not a good idea. And taking the update while rooted is never a good idea. It makes weird things come out of your phone and crawl in your ear at night.

By the way, nice avatar ;) my old roommate is a drummer and got me into Opeth (and All That Remains, and much more haha) They are pretty bad ass.

The best option is to update to a ROM based on 3.70.651.1 and update your radios manually. See the Rooting for Dummies guide sticky - section 6 under after rooting for instructions on how to do this. Do not attempt to accept the OTA update. You *could* unroot, accept the OTA update, then root again, but your hboot version will be updated. That means that any nandroid backups you've made will be useless. You *can* get back to your previous hboot version, but it's far more trouble than it's worth after doing that. Once a new OTA is release, that is definitely not a good idea, as you could lose root, potentially for good (but more likely just until another root exploit is found). For now, unrevoked works for all versions, but you'll still be updating hboot that way. Just follow the instructions in the Rooting for Dummies guide. It's the best way to do it.

EDIT: surf beat me to it :).

Thanks guys for the quick replies and hooking me up! I will give it a shot (after I am done losing to my 4 year old son at Kinect Sports). Hopefully the instructions from the links provided are easy to follow. I'm a noob but wanting to try and learn. I appreciate the offer to help as well. I just might need it!

Glad to meet a fellow Opeth fan! Love those guys. Their ability to be heavy as hell and then clean blows me away. That and their time changes! I am sure that is what attracted your old drummer roommate to them.

Im here for you akazabam ;)

Not to generalize but they seem to be a musicians band. I played guitar many moons ago and my appreciation for their abilities is strong. Now go blast some Ghost Reveries or Blackwater Park!! :)

I did the update. My Software information is now:

    Android version: 2.2
    Baseband version: 2.15.00.11.19
    Kernal version: 2.6.32.17-gee557fd htc-kernal@and18-2 #15
    Build number: 3.70.651.1 CL294884 release-keys
    Software number: 3.70.651.1
    Browser version: Webkit 3.1
    PRI Version 1.90_003
    PRL Version: 60675

    Does everything look correct?

So far the only issue I have is with my Sirius XM Online app. It is only working when I am connected to Wi-Fi. When I try through the Sprint network I get an error - "Unable to Acquire Data Connection. Check Network Connection And Try Again". Prior to this update it performed great over the Sprint network (I last used it yesterday, Saturday). Any suggestions? I use this in my car where Wi-Fi is not an option.

I did some research found the solution. My Sirius XM app is now working on 3G! Here is what I found (Android Ap not working. | Facebook):

Apparently the update changed the settings below to something that disrupts streaming. Whether it is because Sprint wants to redirect this traffic to a proxy server or someone just goofed on the setting, who knows. But I checked the settings against a Moment and the Moment has different settings.

    Here's the fix:

    1) Dial ##3282#
    2) Choose Edit Mode
    3) Enter your MSL#
    4) Choose Advanced
    5) Change HTTP PD Proxy Port to: 0
    6) Change HTTP PD Proxy Address to: 0.0.0.0

To find my MLS# I used MSL Reader app - Download MSL Reader for your Android phone on AppBrain

Yep, that's one of the fixes :). Good job finding it on your own. Otherwise, your information all looks good. It's doing things like this that really start to get your comfortable with root. Good job :).

Yes, now that you have this confidence boost, try out some new roms ;)
I think you will like the look of some of them.
Some change everything, some change not so much.

Myn's WarmTwoPointTwo, for example, is pretty stock looking, other than the themes and certain things here and there are black, giving it a nice dark theme. All of my friends loved it when i gave it to them.

I would love to try some new roms!! With my limited knowledge, I understand Unrevoked is a very basic root. Will I be able to run Myn's WarmTwoPointTwo for example? Or will I need to apply a different root method?

You need three things to take full advantage of root:

    1) S-OFF
    2) Custom recovery
    3) Rooted ROM

Unrevoked does all three. Even if it didn't do the last thing, you need only have S-OFF and a custom recovery to flash a ROM that is rooted. That being said, you can flash myn's warm with no issues. Make sure you read up before flashing a new ROM. Make a nandroid backup, and follow the instructions in the Rooting for Dummies guide to flash a ROM.
