    Howdy folks,

This issue was identified in the Sprint Community forums with 2011 Chevy Bluetooth Hands free systems. The issue was that the EVO 3D would pair, but would connect intermittently. The connection would cycle on and off and would interrupt phone calls. The issue actually stems from an incompatibility with the address book download attempted by the car to the EVO 3D. The solution is to not allow the address book connection.

    The Fix:
    1. Delete the phone profile from the car
    2. Delete the car profile from the phone.
    3. Pair the phone with the car
    4. Check the box, always perform this action, and decline the connection to the address book.

Kudos to Sprint Forum User ISIRAPYNOT005 for figuring this out.

Been wondering about this. Our Cruze used to work fine with my old 4G and hers but since her 4G was updated to GB it wont stay connected and neither will my 3D. I'll have to try this when she gets home.

We just got a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze and it has bluetooth built in to it. I will preface by saying that it is distinctly possible that the issue it with the car. It may be the phone(s), though.

I can get my phone to connect to bluetooth via the setup, no problem. But the phonebook doesn't sync and the connection goes in and out with no rhyme or reason. I can't place a call through bluetooth, but if I call from my phone, it will suddenly connect to the handsfree about a minute or so in to the call.

The reason I'm asking here (in addition to scheduling a time to have the car looked at) is that someone on the Cruze forum mentioned that they had heard of issues with certain HTC phones, but didn't have specifics on the problem. One had a Thunderbolt and experienced similar issues, but apparently fixed it with an AOSP ROM. My wife has a rooted Evo 4G on the Kingdom Revolution ROM, I'm on a stock ROM Evo 3D and we both have identical problems.

Any suggestions as to how I might fix this?

Follow the instructions above. Delete your phone from the Device list in your car. Recoconnect it but this time dont allow it to import the phone book. Then it will work fine. I had the exact same issue as you.

Thanks for the thread merge. I must not be very skilled with the search function.

Does this mean that I won't ever be able to import the phone book? That kind of blows. It would make placing calls a heck of a lot easier. I will go give it a try, though.

The solution outlined in this thread did the trick. I'm more than a little disappointed that I can't sync the phone book, however.

I'm also disappointed that I can't tell the 3vo to stop notifying me that I can. I checked the remember what I choose option. But every time I get in my car, I hear the beep of the car trying to access the phone book. /sigh guess I'll never have to worry about leaving my phone behind.

The issue seems to be on HTC's side. All of their phones that have BT 3.0 are having these issues and not just with Chevy cars. Its a known issue with BMW, Ford, Benz's, etc. Here is a link to a google forum on it for the Incredible,
HTC Thunderbolt Bluetooth will not stay connected to vehicle hands-free system - Google Mobile Help

HTC did a piss poor job in their firmware for BT 3.0 in making in backward compatible with BT 2.1 devices. I have escalated it with HTC and being firm that they fix it.

I can't figure out how to "delete your car from your phone". I can delete the EVO from the bluetooth in the car. Then I try a new scan, touch the "your vehicle" and all it does it say" connected,, disconnected". It will not allow me to "re enter" a new code... Now I got no connection at all.

Settings > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth settings > long press Your Vehicle and unpair it. It would probably help to do this when the car is off and open the door so that the car's bluetooth is completely off. Or do this before you even enter the car.

Thank you for your solution to this issue. I just switched from Blackberry to the new HTC Evo 4g LTE and loved this phone until the blue tooth started switching on and off. I jacked with it for several hours and wasn't able to fix it. I googled the problem and came across this forum THANK YOU!! I love my phone again. Some GM vehicles support the address book function. My Regal does not, but has anyone checked to see if the same thing happens on a GM car that supports contact downloads?
