This error is what I get every time I try to copy a track to my phone using the USB connection (can't use bluetooth).

As long as I don't try to move any files the phone stays connected though. And it's also odd because I copied files this way before, I even use the same folder (the standard music folder).

EDIT: SOLVED, this helped me: [Q] SGS 2 Drivers (CDC Serial & SAMSUNG_Android) - xda-developers and turning off all wireless signals etc. and making sure nothing is running, and a phone restart.

Try copying the files in usb mode only, not connected through kies.

Go to settings -> applications -> development -> USB debugging
When connected click the button on the S2 screen to enable the connection.

I hate programmes like kies, I used my phone straight away like a usb stick (only for music though).

I tried what you suggested but I got an error from windows:

    CDC_Serial : No driver found
    SAMSUNG_Android : No driver found

EDIT: I think I just answered my own question. Probably installing kies will get me the drivers, so I can do what I'm striving to.

Its not the fact that your copying music, its the Kies USB drivers. It can happen any time, and not even when the device is actually being accessed.

First port of call is to try connecting it to a different usb port, but if your constantly getting trouble, then follow my instructions in the Tips n Tricks thread

I wouldnt hold your breath mate.
Ultimately its still using the samsung drivers, so dont expect an easy ride.
You may find it works for a while then it just drops of the face of the ether!

Hm, I don't know which drivers I'm using now, but since before Kies it wouldn't even find drivers in Debugging, and now after installing Kies it finds drivers in Debugging. I think that's a step forward.

Of course it's not a simple pendrive, but as long as I keep my phone simple and idle during file transfer. I don't see why it shouldn't continue working this way. Also I could keep Kies running on my PC while playing around in the explorer itself (for stability)

EDIT: I think I see now what you mean by 'it's not going to be an easy ride'
