I'm still adjusting to the leap from Android 8 to 10. A lot's changed!

When I get a Ring alert for motion at my front door, and long-press on it to see/adjust its settings, the second entry in this list will be flashing:

I take that to mean it's the alert that sounded.

But the sound it plays is not the sound chosen for it. In fact, it's NONE of Ring's notification sounds.

I really want it to play the sound assigned to it; the one it plays is super-annoyingly long. Since assigning the sound I want doesn't work...what can I do?

Just FYI, I went ahead and checked all of Ring's other alerts to see if the annoying sound is actually coming from one of them--it's not. They all have their own sounds, and they play the correct ones.

I had those--forever! [Still have one on my kitchen door.] But now that I've had Ring for a year+, I'm never going back. It ties in with my ADT alarm system; I can do everything, like disable the alarm and unlock the deadbolt, from my bed. :) And since my helper has access to everything on her phone, she can talk to a person at the door when she's three miles away at work. We love it.
    Not that I'm seeing.

It's nice--no need to carry house keys any more.

I got my Ring system through ADT; they came and installed everything and tied it into my existing security system. One app on my phone lets me control everything. When arriving home and the alarm is set, you can set the door lock to automatically disarm the alarm upon successfully entering its code.

One thing I have to say, if you're going to get a Ring [or similar] system, I highly recommend professional installation. Some people do it themselves--but they don't hardwire it, they use batteries instead. If you're good with stuff like this, go for it, but if not, it's best to go with a pro. My Ring is hardwired, but also has a battery backup. There's no way I would've attempted this myself.

Must be one of the mysteries of Android 10: a few days after posting this thread, the selected sound started playing. So I did nothing, but the problem is solved!
