Kinda reminds me of how Hanoi Jane once declared that her use of firearms was ok, while proselytizing that that would be bad for others.

I think you mean more equal "than" others.

    But yeah, I agree, hypocritical.

Politicians realizing that it's too dangerous to be unarmed... but even though they realize this, they won't let the citizens be armed...

“All animals are created equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” George Orwell, Animal Farm.

De-metaphorized by Crude so people maybe can get the point - this time.

Google Dianne Feinstein, she is a top gun opponent yet believes she is exempt.

They are all part of the same authoritarian mentality but somehow the media and half the population still don't get it.

Sadly this is typical of the mindset of elitist California politicians...

Assuming they find a way to get this legislation passed into law I suspect that the Screen Actors Guild will lobby to get this exemption extended to it's members.

Maybe he got it out of his system after he shot Kelly Preston way back in 1990.

Back on topic, I find this pretty stupid. The same people, well a large chunk of them who give us some of the stupidest gun laws want to be able to work around the rules they tout as so great. Elitist bull crap.

I find California to be the most perfect place to live, it's just the way a lot of people think that screw it up.

Can't just about anyone acquire a concealed weapon's permit? I imagine if something like this passed it would undergo the same "scrutiny" as a concealed weapons permit. I doubt it would be "you are now a politician, and here is your gun".

california is a may issue state. which means it really varies. from county to county. some places its impossible, others its easy

    from wiki
California gives wide latitude to the county authorities in issuing permits. In California, the usual issuance of the permits ranges from a No-Issue policy, such as San Francisco, to an almost Shall-Issue environment in rural areas. However, a permit to carry is generally valid statewide, although local ordinances may prohibit open or concealed carry with or without a permit in some jurisdictions, usually by circumventing state uniform firearms laws by restricting the possession, purchasing, and transporting of ammunition in such jurisdictions

California's always seemed very large, with a very large population, and if not more actual diversity, more diversity by virtue of the nature of larger populations in their big cities and rural areas compared to other states - I can't imagine the nightmares faced by state lawmakers there.

"both gun rights and gun control advocates agree that elected officials should not have special status."

if you don't agree with your elected officials don't vote for 'em, its not like they're holding gun to your head.
