So I went to reread some texts I received from a friend only a couple weeks ago, and for some reason, they are gone. Some texts from before them are there, and many others afterward. I'm wondering now if texts from other people are disappearing too, but it doesn't seem like it from what I can remember. I didn't delete them either.

Also, you know how large texts get sent as multiple pages? Sometimes not all of the pages arrive when I get a large text.

Anyone know how to fix either of these problems?

this has never happened to me, but when in your text app (open), go to the settings and see if they are set to delete after a set limit. however, you are getting ransom deletions, some new ones missing, but older ones still there, which is not logical!

what i have found with some apps in the past is i that i needed to delete all the data in the app, which force refreshes it. sometimes i think an app can get a software bug or corruption which can cause this. however, i do not know how to fix your specific issue.

however, if you delete the data, it may delete your old texts, and of course you will need to go back into the text app to reset the settings.

if an old text was important, i believe you can still access your deleted/missing texts on your online at&t account, which i do not know if you have one. my friend can access all his kid's texts online on at&t, and read what his kid says to keep an eye on them. i do not know where you can access deleted texts online, so i would call at&t and ask them.

sorry, i don't know if this helped or not.... good luck!!

As SGS2 pointed out there are limits set to minimize an expanding text message database on system memory. If you open the messaging app and press menu>settings you will see the default for text messages is 200, but only 20 for MMS. If the missing texts had pictures attached, it's entirely possible that they would be deleted out of sequence.

You should back up texts regularly if they are important to you. You could also increase the limit so they don't get deleted so quickly.
