Help Sorting contacts

Haven't seen this discussed for the GL, so I thought I'd ask. Does anyone know how to get Contacts to sort on last name? My old Droid Razr Maxx gave me that option; and I'd rather use it on the GL. But all I see is an option to display last name first, not to sort last name first. In fact, I'd prefer to see last name sort, first name display (so that Adrian Zmed comes after John Travolta in the list). Anyone know how to turn that trick? Thank you all.

go to contacts, click menu button - select settings, display contacts - surname first

Thank you for your reply; but you have merely restated the problem. I don't want to sort on first name and display on last. I want to sort on last and display on first. Using the obvious mechanism, "Zmed, Adrian" would appear before "Travolta, John." Not desired. I want to see "John Travolta" listed ahead of "Adrian Zmed." I guess I'll have to get a third-party contact manager to get what I want.
