I just got the update to 2.2 on my Droid and I am having a slight issue. Usually whenever I go to school, I would put my Droid in silent mode and then when done I put it into vibrate mode. Now with the update it seems that I cannot do this. Here are the options that I want. What must I do to get them:

Vibrate mode: Vibrate for incoming calls, texts, emails, et cetera.
Silent mode: No vibration or sound for anything at all.

    Please help.

    Thanks,
    Hunter

If you have the Beautiful Widgets application, it gives you widgets for the home screen that you can tap for Vibrate and Silent. I would suggest downloading it, I believe it's only $2 or $3, and WELL worth the money.

Other than that there's no way to silence the phone short of turning it off.

in the settings menu there is an option selection for sound(third one)
in the sound menu there is selection for vibrate(second one)
there you can choose one of four modes to operate in
it seems that one of these should give you the behavior you want
and i believe you want the last one-- only when not in silent mode
