Just recently I've noticed in my notification bar weird icons (i.e. an orange star) and when I pull the screen down it is a spam notification. Anyone, getting this too? And how do I stop it. Thanks!

If you click on it what happens? Does it have any description when you open the notification bar?

it is one of your apps. i have heard of some doing this. you have to un-install the app to get rid of it.

I once got a weird spam message and the icon at the top was from the wikipedia app. I ended up uninstalling the app and I never got another message like it.

This is called "airpush" not related to slideme - but certainly any app could be using it, slideme or otherwise.

Just started getting pop ups in my notification bar and remembered this post. This app sniffed out the offender and now all is well.
    Thanks again......

Just downloaded Airpush Detector and it worked great. I uninstalled the indicated program. Now to see if I get anymore annoying spam notifications....

you can also keep the app that has the spam attached if you like it that much and download the airpush permannent opt out app.
