Is the mic for speech to text available on the the Hero's htc keyboard?
If you use the xda keyboard (and a few others) then yes. IIRC, the stock 2.1 keyboard does not have the mic.
Ok thanks lol its no that big a deal because i kinda like to swype my messages and speaking isnt faster anyway
How do you get the speech to text keyboard?
i was trying to find it last night but no luck, is there another name for it? i just purchase the moment for my wife and that fun has it. its pretty cool
You can speak your text if you use Handcent on the Hero, I've used it and if you speak clearly, it's pretty accurate.
so i dont have to have the keyboard that the moment has to do that?
Not for text, if you are using Handcent. If you are running 2.X there are other keyboards that give you that feature in the keyboard so you can use it on any text input.
When we got updated to 2.1 they left out the keyboard that came on most other phones with 2.1. Because 2.1. is capable of doing the speech to text task all you need to do is install the keyboard that was left out, i.e. the htc keyboard that has the mic button.
