The Sprint event in NYC started off with David Blaine submerged in a tank of water – you may remember he broke the record for length of time under water with 17 minutes and 4 seconds a few years ago on Oprah. *Sprint promised they’d show off a “World First” and by Kevin’s description, I [...]

Epic fail. Nobody will buy this, except possibly Microsoft Kin owners...

From some of the specs it seems this phone is very underpowered. I hope Sprint is not betting the farm on this. I want to upgrade my phone but I was hoping for maybe an EVO 2 with dual core processor for the spring. I have to get rid of this blackberry before I go insane. Should I just go ahead and get an EVO now, or wait?

If you wanna hold out for dual core tech, you might can get an EVO off contract for a cheap price from somewhere.

I've been hearing good things about the EVO Shift too.

I have my mom on my plan and she recently lost her Hero and I took her to Best Buy and had her get the Evo Shift. She thought the EVO was too big. The Shift is very nice, and I like a physical keyboard, but while playing with the Shift I found that I would rather use the touch screen keyboard because of the auto correct which you don't get when using the actual keyboard. I figured if I wasn't going to use the keyboard I might as well get the EVO with the larger screen. The problem is I don't want to get the Evo now and then find out there is an EVO 2 coming out for April or May. This new Kyocera phone makes me think nothing new is coming for Sprint until the fall or even next year. If I knew that for certain I would get the EVO today.

For some reason the auto correct for the physical keyboard has to be turned on in the settings, but it is there.

I have the Shift now, but was really hoping for something cool to be announced before my 30 days was up. Very very disappointed in Sprint right now.

The problem with this phone, like the Continuum (which actually didn't have two screens, but whatever), is that to properly utilize the other screen, developers will have to use Kyocera's SDK (as far as I understand anyway). Nobody's going to do that.

Still, it needs to get points for innovation. :)
