CM-10 will be the most stable. chairshot is pushing commits to that on a regular basis. I don't own this device any longer. I plan on getting the kernel working with the most recent patches from d2 kernel upstream, then I'm done unless someone sends me the device, which I'm NOT asking anyone to do. The files will stay on the host and if anyone does want to pick this up I'll give them access to the file server also.
You can't even use a non stock camera? Something from the market?
That about sums it up. The device was never very popular to begin with. Only a few really active users here ever. It can run cm-11.0 with more kernel work. I had it booting, sound worked, maybe sensors and BT iirc. Still a long way to go.
But if you somehow ended up with a device, do you think it could progress further?
Definitely. But, I can't make any guarantees. The guys who did the apexqtmo and expressatt are much better kernel hacks than I am. If the community could live with cm-10.2 that would be much more likely since it's a closer API level than cm-11.0.
Honestly, it would be cool to see any version of CM working on this hardware personally. I don't care if it is the latest and greatest as long as it would work.
I like options that are removed from Samsung's stock UIs.
As far as getting a device, I just caught wind of this:
Free Samsung Galaxy Victory no contract 10-22-2013 - Page 244 - Slickdeals.net
Apparently some folks picked up some pay-as-you-go phones during some special deal (months ago) and later realized they don't know what to do with them. They now have unused Victorys collecting dust. They appear to not work on Sprint service currently (likely ESN related since they bought the phone and left), but I'm assuming they are the same hardware as any other Sprint GV.
I got two of them from that deal and they work on Ringplus just fine. I suspect most of the people from that thread are doing the same, or using Ting.
Not going to help with virgin Roms. You need a virgin mobile victory to build from
I wouldn't flash a virgin ROM on a non virgin victory
Lol oops I was reading in a different thread and must have clicked here. I was wondering why these phones were of interest. Are they originally sprint? Can they be developed from a sprint ROM?
They are sprint pay as you go phones. I assume same rom and hardware as their post paid options.
VM should be mostly compatible I would assume. If minor tweaks are needed let me know I should be able to help out.
Technically, we're not changing that. The modem and bootloader are staying the same. I'll post a build tonight for some check-out. Probably really late tonight.
