So my contract is up after two years, and the $92 a month is a bit steep when I don't really use my 'smart' phone features much. I text once and awhile, use voice search occasionally, not that into using apps, yet.

Is there another provider, where I can get a better deal then the $92??

T-Mobile and Straight Talk seem to be offering some good deals right now. I have been eyeballing them myself. =) There's always smaller carriers too like Cricket. I think with all 3 of those companies you can get plans under $75.

Yes quite a list! How about coverage, is there another list showing the coverage for these companies in the San Diego area? I've been sort of happy with sprint, except for the reception at my house.

That I wouldn't be able to do without taking individual screen shots of each coverage map.

U.S. Cellular looks like the carrier I'm going to when I ditch Sprint. They have the best coverage around home, and nearly all the places I'm likely to travel to any time soon.

I've heard some buzz that T-Mobile has the best data performance overall. Some carriers boast impressive data rates in a handful of places, which is useless if you don't live there. T-Mobile has OK coverage at the two places where I spend most of my time. Since I want to lose Sprint because it has terrible coverage at those two places, I'll settle for OK data rates and rock solid reception where I need it.

I don't know if any carrier offers loaner phones that you could try for a day. They all want you to go to all the trouble of buying, hoping that you'll be to lazy to return it if it doesn't meet your expectations. That's a shame IMO.
