Hello guys, I have been reading you all for a while now, learning from all of you, i like coming here to read about phone stuff, this seems to be a great forum when it comes to people trying to help you and sharing their stories... So here is my horror story with 4.3 lol... I never had an issue with 4.1.2 until i updated to 4.3 which i did thru Kies AIR over a week ago. The main thing i noticed after the update was the ram being used like crazy. i have a L710 that comes with 1.56GB/1,598MB RAM and 90% of the time the phone its using almost a GIG of ram(0.99GB), like literally out of nowhere, its ridiculous. The other thing that its bothering me A LOT its the fact that even with "Scanning always available" UNTICK/OFF WIFI keeps scanning for NETWORKS, i just realize i had the gps on, so i turned off, then turn off wifi, turn it back on it still scans i thought it was something with the gps, but it is not ,it does it every 5 seconds for like another 5 seconds thats unnecessary battery drain, especially if i am already connected to my wifi at home. Am i missing something here, i thought Scanning always available OFF its suppose to stop wifi scanning all the time for networks, especially if you are connected to wifi already o_O anyone else having this issue. I Have been tempted to go back to 4.1.2, my phone is not rooted or anything im just a regular guy with a regular phone, some games, apps etc. nothing major. I read in a lot of places that if i go back i will brick the phone? that sounds ridiculous, im not saying its not true it just sounds ridiculous if its completely true o_O .. its like you have a computer and you have a lot of junk viruses etc and you cant format it and reinstall windows because it wont work anymore. Are they on crack? Any ideas????? on the two issues i mentioned? thanks guys ;)

No, it's not. In Linux (and Android is Linux), unused RAM is wasted RAM. RAM: What it is, how it's used, and why you shouldn't care | Android Central

The other thing that its bothering me A LOT its the fact that even with "Scanning always available" UNTICK/OFF WIFI keeps scanning for NETWORKS, i just realize i had the gps on, so i turned off, then turn off wifi, turn it back on it still scans
Are you saying that you're running some network monitor that shows that wifi is scanning, or that when you go to wifi setup you see it scanning? When you go to the setup screen, Android assumes that you're going to be looking for a wifi signal, so it starts scanning.

i thought Scanning always available OFF its suppose to stop wifi scanning all the time for networks, especially if you are connected to wifi already
It is - until you go to the wifi page, supposedly because you're going to be looking to change networks. Why else would you be there? (Computers don't understand curiosity.)

see :( and i have always allow scanning OFF. and about the ram i know i am not complaining that its being used, i just think it uses too much. ALL THE TIME. which sometimes makes the phone lag

With scanning off and you go into that window it will start scanning because the phone thinks you want to connect to a Wi-Fi network. It is only scanning when you open the window.

Not trying to be contentious but ...how can one be sure that the device is not scanning all the time? Because it really feels like it is already in the process when you open the wifi window. On a refrigerator at least there is a button that explains that age old question....;-)

Delete if you wish....but it WAS a serious question ....on my Galaxy S5 with everything else shut down, my wifi indicator in the notification bar syncs with the scan interval in the wifi settings window......even with said window closed....so forgive me if I don't just take your glib answer on faith....
