Root [Sprint/Cricket] How do I stop system update pop-ups?

Just flashed an older version of Chemistry ROM 4.1 and I'm happy with it for the most part but the pop-ups for updating the system are annoying and yes, I know NOT to press update. Is there anything I can do to stop these pop-ups?

If you are using a STOCK based ROM you can remove fota.client.apk and fwupgrade.apk with ES File Explorer in /system/apps. Just enable root explorer menu key > Tools > Root Explorer > Mount R/W so you can browse and delete files. If rom uses goo.im you can delete that apk from the /system/app/ folder as well.

It's also possible to disable the software update app in application manager.

Only in ICS/Jellybean ROMs tho.

Thank you all for suggestions. I ended up flashing the people's ROM 4.1.2. Pop ups gone. Thanks guys
